Clear rules

Terms and Conditions of Use and Subscription

These terms govern the use of the Canipattes app, the optional creation of an account, the Community and access to Premium features.

The app works without an account An account is required for Premium, online services and the Community.
The Community means publishing Your community name and the content you post are visible according to the feature used.
Subscriptions are handled by Google Play Price, renewal, cancellation and any refunds also follow Google Play's rules.

1. Publisher and contact

Canipattes is an application published in France. The publisher's identity and full legal details appear in the site's legal notice.

For any question about the app, a purchase or these terms: contact@canipattes.fr.

2. Acceptance and applicable version

By creating an account you expressly accept the version of these terms displayed at the time of registration. The accepted version and the date of acceptance are recorded with your account to preserve that evidence.

Using the app without an account remains subject to the rules of use, security and liability set out below. The privacy policy is available separately and explains how personal data is processed.

3. Purpose of the service

Canipattes lets you record walks, display a GPS track, follow goals, keep memories and organise information about your dogs and their health records. With an account, it also lets you join a Community, add friends, take part in a leaderboard, publish spots, organise walks and take part in discussions.

Canipattes is a tracking and organising tool. It does not replace the advice, diagnosis or treatment of a vet or a health professional.

4. Canipattes account

Creating an account is optional for basic use. It becomes necessary in order to subscribe to Premium or attach it to an identity, to use the Community, and to access the other features that explicitly require it in the app.

You must provide an email address you can access, protect your credentials and promptly report any suspicious use. You are responsible for actions taken from your account until you have reported that it has been compromised.

You can delete your account from within the app. Doing so does not automatically delete the data already stored locally on your phone.

5. Community, minors and published content

Access for minors

Local features carry no minimum age of their own. A minor may use the Community on their own from the age of digital consent that applies where they live — between 13 and 16 in the European Economic Area, and 15 in France. Below that age, creating or enabling the community account and using it require the agreement and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who must accompany the minor in their posts, their privacy settings and the organisation of any meet-up.

Visibility and care

The Community uses a name chosen by the member. Depending on the context, other members may see that name, the limited community profile, the rank, the XP, certain trophies, the spots published, participation in an open walk, and topics and comments. The detail is set out in the privacy policy.

Do not publish a home address, private contact details, the school or workplace you attend, a live location, precise habits, or any other information that would let someone locate a person. A walking spot must be a public place, placed by hand. Canipattes does not verify the identity, intentions or competence of every member: favour public places, tell someone close to you, and always accompany a minor to a meet-up.

Discussions, reports and moderation

You are responsible for the content you publish and must hold the necessary rights. The following are prohibited, among others: harassment, threats, hate, fraud, impersonation, disclosure of private data, and content that is unlawful, dangerous or infringes the rights of others. Canipattes strictly prohibits any content or conduct involving the sexual exploitation or abuse of children, any sexual solicitation of a minor, and any child sexual abuse material. Content of that nature must be reported immediately in the app or to contact@canipattes.fr; it may be removed and passed to the competent authorities where the law requires it.

Members can report content or block an account. Authorised administrators may hide, remove, restore, lock or feature a post, delete a spot, and limit or suspend an account where safety, the law or the operation of the service justifies it. Moderation does not guarantee that no inappropriate content will ever be visible.

You can edit or withdraw your posts using the options provided. After an account is deleted, topics or comments may remain under "Deleted account", with no link to the former account, so that conversations remain understandable.

Rights over your content

You keep your rights over the text and photos you publish. For as long as they remain published, you grant Canipattes a non-exclusive permission limited to hosting them, reproducing them technically, displaying them, adapting them to the app's formats and moderating them. That permission does not allow your content to be sold, nor used for external advertising, without a separate agreement.

6. Free version and Premium offers

The free version has functional limits that are clearly indicated in the app. Premium unlocks the features presented on the paywall at the time of purchase. The plans currently envisaged are the following:

Plan Reference price Billing Renewal
Monthly €2.99 Every month Automatic each month until cancelled
Yearly €29.99 Every year, after any trial period shown Automatic each year until cancelled
Lifetime €69.99 One-off payment No automatic renewal

The prices above are the euro reference prices. The final prices and conditions displayed by Google Play before you confirm your order prevail, in your own currency. They may vary by country, currency, taxes, promotions and changes to the offer.

The Lifetime plan means Premium access for as long as Canipattes continues to offer and operate the service. It does not guarantee that the app, any given feature or any given third-party service will be maintained forever.

7. Payment, trial and renewal

Purchases are handled by Google Play. Canipattes does not receive your payment card details. Before you confirm, Google Play displays the product, the price, the billing period and the applicable conditions.

Where a trial period is offered, its length and the price charged at the end of it are shown before purchase. Unless cancelled before the trial ends, the subscription becomes chargeable and then renews automatically at the chosen frequency.

8. Cancellation, plan changes and refunds

You can manage or cancel a subscription from the Subscriptions section of Google Play. Deleting the app or your Canipattes account does not, on its own, cancel a Google Play subscription.

After cancellation, Premium normally stays available until the end of the period already paid for. Plan changes, refunds and rights of withdrawal are handled in accordance with the applicable law and with the process presented by Google Play.

9. Local data, backup and changing phone

Full dog profiles, health records, documents, walks, tracks and private photos are kept mainly on your phone. The account is not an automatic backup of that data. The summaries and content you deliberately use in the Community are, however, hosted online in accordance with the privacy policy.

The ZIP export is created at the location you choose and is not automatically sent to a Canipattes server. You must protect that file and check your backup before resetting, replacing or losing the device.

10. GPS, weather, spots and accuracy

Distances, steps, speeds, tracks, weather conditions and other statistics are estimates that depend on the phone, its sensors, permissions, the network and third-party services. Discrepancies or interruptions may occur.

You remain responsible for choosing the route, for the conditions of the walk and for the safety of people and animals. Do not rely on the app alone in a dangerous or medical situation.

The attributes of a community spot are declared or confirmed by members and may be incomplete, out of date or disputed. Check on site for access, local rules, weather, hazards, leash requirements and whether the place suits your dog.

11. Acceptable use

You agree, among other things, not to:

  • use Canipattes for unlawful or fraudulent purposes, or in a way that harms a third party;
  • attempt to circumvent the limits, the Premium check or account security;
  • disrupt the API, automate abusive requests, or access another user's data;
  • publish or share content without holding the necessary rights;
  • publish a home, private land without permission, or a fake meet-up location;
  • use friends, discussions or meet-ups to harass, trap or locate a member.

In the event of abuse, fraud or risk to the service, access to the account may be limited or suspended, with notice where the situation allows.

12. Availability and changes

Canipattes may change in order to fix a problem, improve the experience, meet an obligation or adapt to a third-party service. A feature may be modified or withdrawn where there is a legitimate reason.

The publisher uses reasonable means to keep the service running, without guaranteeing continuous availability or the complete absence of errors. Mandatory consumer rights remain fully applicable.

13. Intellectual property

The Canipattes name, the interface, the text, the graphic elements and the components specific to the service are protected. No right of reproduction or exploitation is granted beyond normal personal use of the app.

You keep your rights over the photos, documents and content you add locally or publish, subject to the limited technical permission described for the Community.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law, without depriving a consumer of the mandatory protections of their country of residence. If a difficulty arises, please first contact contact@canipattes.fr so that an amicable solution can be sought.

A consumer may then use, free of charge, the mediation scheme indicated in the legal notice, subject to the applicable eligibility conditions.

15. Changes to these terms

You will be informed of any significant change. Where fresh acceptance is required, it will be requested before you continue using the features concerned.
